OUR HOTEL
City Mills Hotel is more than just a place to stay. It’s a story—one that began in 1828, the very year the city of Columbus, Georgia was founded. That’s when wealthy planter Seaborn Jones established City Mills as a working grist mill on the Chattahoochee River, creating what would become the oldest continually operating industrial site along the river’s edge. For more than 150 years, City Mills produced flour, cornmeal, and wheat, helping to power both the city and the rise of the South as a major textile center. When the mill finally shuttered in the late 1980s, the building was left abandoned and slowly fell into decay. For decades, the massive brick walls, iron beams, and original mill machinery sat silent—a hauntingly beautiful reminder of what once was. But the vision to preserve and breathe new life into this space never faded. Today, City Mills stands proudly once again—restored, revitalized, and reimagined as Columbus’ first luxury boutique hotel. We blend deep-rooted Southern history with refined comfort and modern amenities, offering guests an unforgettable stay on the river. Each space is filled with custom furnishings, local artwork, hand-crafted metalwork, and original architectural elements preserved from the building’s industrial past. Every room offers a view—whether it’s of the Chattahoochee River’s natural beauty or the charm of Columbus’ Historic District.Guests can dine at Millhouse Kitchen + Bar, our on-site restaurant located at Riverwalk level, where seasonally inspired menus and craft cocktails meet unbeatable views. Just below, a private dining space accommodates intimate gatherings of up to 75 guests. And just steps from the hotel, a tented event pavilion awaits—perfect for weddings, celebrations, or corporate events, with the river as your backdrop and string lights overhead.City Mills is also home to a spacious bridal suite with sweeping river views, plus adjoining rooms for friends and family—making it a true one-stop destination for your big day. Brides even have the option to reserve the entire hotel, creating a private, all-inclusive wedding weekend where everyone stays together under one historic roof. But the experience doesn’t stop at the front door. Located directly on the Riverwalk and walking distance to Uptown Columbus, City Mills is your home base for riverfront adventure and city exploration. Guests can whitewater raft past the hotel, rent a bike to cruise downtown, sip craft beer at local breweries, and return in time for dinner and a quiet evening by the fire pits.Whether you're here for a weekend getaway, wedding celebration, or just a night away from the ordinary, City Mills offers more than just a stay—it offers a sense of place. One that honors the past, embraces the present, and invites you to be part of its next chapter.
